Pond Dipping

Every August, usually on a Wednesday evening, we hold our Pond Dipping event. It's popular with families, and we're always impressed by the enthusiasm of children.
We are indebted to Neill Talbot, Senior Conservation Officer for Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust who has joined us regularly to help identify our finds, as well as bringing along nets and equipment.

For a full list of species we've discovered over the years, as well as a list of plants. please click on this button.
IMPORTANT
Please do not bring plants or creatures to the pond.
Non Native species can have a harmful effect on our native wildlife.
During our pond dipping events we have found invasive water plants and even goldfish. These plants can overwhelm our native species and have no benefit to our native fauna. Goldfish will eat other wildlife.
